Can cyst affect pregnancy?
PregnancyAnswer
The presence of ovarian cysts during pregnancy is common, and most are functional cysts that are benign and usually resolve on their own without affecting the pregnancy. However, some cysts may grow, cause pain, or, rarely, twist. If a cyst is large, symptomatic, or appears complex on ultrasound, we will closely monitor it. Very rarely, surgical intervention might be needed during pregnancy. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is associated with an increased risk of certain pregnancy complications, which we manage with close monitoring.
