Can a tilted uterus cause infertility?
Female InfertilityAnswer
Generally, no, having a tilted uterus (also known as a retroverted or tipped uterus) does not cause infertility. At SCI Hospital, we explain that a tilted uterus, where the uterus tips backward towards the spine instead of forward, is a common anatomical variation. For most women, it doesn't interfere with sperm reaching the egg or an embryo implanting. In very rare instances, if the tilt is severe and is caused by another condition like significant endometriosis or pelvic scar tissue, then those underlying problems could be contributing to infertility, but not the tilt of the uterus itself.
