Genetics may increase the likelihood of developing BPH, but it is not the only factor. Age, hormonal changes, and overall health also contribute to prostate enlargement.

Men with a family history of prostate enlargement may have a higher risk of developing BPH. However, many men without any family history also develop BPH as they grow older. Having a family history does not mean you will definitely develop BPH, but it is a good reason to have regular prostate health check-ups.
