When to exercise after hysterectomy?
HysterectomyAnswer
Recovery after hysterectomy should be gradual, guided by both your doctor’s advice and how your body feels. In the first two weeks, gentle walking is encouraged—start with short walks indoors and gradually increase the distance. From weeks two to six, you can extend your walking time and pace but should continue avoiding heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling.
Around six to eight weeks, your surgeon will evaluate your healing; if you're cleared, you may begin low-impact exercises like swimming, using an elliptical, or stationary cycling. After 12 weeks, most patients can resume more strenuous activities like running or weightlifting—just remember to ease into it and stop if any pain occurs.
